When I talk to people about a low-carb, high-fat diet, I always hear concerns about cholesterol and clogged arteries. And I totally understand why people have concerns. I did too. I mean eating saturated fat goes against everything we were told over the years.
So I wanted to write a post on the topic in order to help alleviate some of the fears out there.
Before I decided to change the way I was eating, I did some research. I read a lot of books and read a lot online. I certainly didn’t want to jeopardize my health or the health of my boyfriend without doing the proper research.
But the truth was that eating a so-called “balanced diet” of counting calories was actually making me fat. It wasn’t until I cut the sugar (carbs) and increased the fat in my diet that I began to feel better. And then, I ultimately began to lose weight.
The fact is, I was lied to.Since the 80’s it was programmed in my head that fats, especially saturated fats, clog your arteries and will give you a heart attack. I was also told that fat was the cause of excess weight.
But there is actually evidence proving that there really isn’t any connection between saturated fat and heart disease. And actually many experts feel that saturated fats are good for you. I can personally tell you that I have lost 50 lbs of weight by eating a very high diet of saturated fat which includes eating butter, bacon, and cheese.
As of this morning, I am down to 138. I’m officially down 51 pounds. And I feel amazing. I feel like I took my life back!
Keep in mind, our ancestors have been eating saturated fats for many years. They didn’t have people on television or people with hidden agendas telling them what to eat. They had a natural instinct given to them by God as to what to eat. It is normal for a human being to crave fat. Our bodies thrive on it. Fat is natural in meats.
Saturated fat is even found in mother’s breast milk. I think if saturated fat was a killer, it wouldn’t be in mothers milk.
In the book, “The Big Fat Surprise: Why Butter, Meat and Cheese Belong in a Healthy Diet“, Nina Teicholz explains that although Saturated fat increases levels of LDL cholesterol, it also raises hdl cholesterol. And this is a good thing.
If you struggle with your weight and have tried everything, then you may want to do like I did. Get Educated and learn how your biggest problem in your diet is carbs and the hidden sugar in processed food NOT fat. You may be able to lose weight like me, Or reverse diabetes and get your health back like Brian, and Steve did.
