Best Almond Flour Pizza Crust

I really don’t have many cravings or miss the carbs much since I’ve been living a low carb lifestyle, but one thing that I do miss once in a while is a nice slice of pizza.

The good news is there are lots of ways to make pizza with fewer carbs. I’ve had cauliflower crust pizza and I’ve even made personalized pizzas using portabella mushrooms. And although I love the taste, I really just miss the crunch.

But no worries because if you use Simple Mills pizza crust you will never worry about not having a good tasting pizza crust. Seriously, Simple Mills makes the best almond flour pizza crust.

This low carb pizza crust is made of natural ingredients like almond flour, coconut flour, and ground flax. It is gluten free meaning it doesn’t contain any grain or corn. It is also not genetically modified. You can rest assured that you will be eating real food that isn’t full of artificial crap.

The most important thing for me is that it is delicious. Honestly, if you make a pizza using simple mills pizza mix you will not ever want to go back to starchy pizza crust again!

I have to tell you when I first saw the box sitting on the shelf at Leg Up, my local health food store, I thought it was a bit costly. But I decided to go ahead and try it out. I reminded myself that before I lost my weight and got healthy, I would have easily spent twenty or more dollars on a pizza delivery service. So I purchased it. Since then, have purchased many more! Now, I just buy my Simple Mills products in bulk at Amazon and it is totally worth the price.

The Simple Mills pizza dough is really easy to make. All you need to do is add a bit of olive oil, water, and vinegar. Mix it until it becomes like dough and press it into a well-greased cookie sheet. I like to press my dough out so it is really thin. This way it gets nice and crispy.

I love Simple Mills products!

I have also tried Simple Mills artisan bread and it was wonderful. I made it into a flatbread. I topped it with some Himalayan sea salt, fresh rosemary, and some melted butter. It was out of this world!

All of the Simple Mills gluten-free products are very low in sugar and carbs so they are perfect for Type 2 diabetics or those who are trying to limit sugar in their diet.

Keep in mind, these products are all wonderful but to me, they are NOT for every day. Just like anything else, if you go overboard you can easily knock yourself out of ketosis and slow down your progress. But for a once in a while splurge, it is worth it!

  1. Wow thank you that sounds great!!! I have just started cooking more for health and budget reasons. And my son wants to make a pizza so this is perfect timing.

I simply love the healthy ingredients that you list. I believe that in 2019 we can eat healthy and still have great taste. I have begun to make purchases in the kitchen to do the same. It is a great investment on feeling, being , and looking good!

    Thanks for sharing this.

  2. Wow, I just love pizza as you but weight gain is always associated with it. I didn’t know that almond flour pizza is gluten free and can be eaten if you are concerned about your weight. My wife would definitely prepare me a delicious pizza out of this. I  would try this and share my experience here soon. Thanks

  4. Hi; your post is informative, I never knew before I read your post that Amazon stock these stuff. Now that I know I can make my order and bake my pizza.

I can see that you are cautious about the foods that you eat. Health should be the number one priority for all human being. However, some of us make light of protecting our health. And choose some delicious foods over nutritious foods.

  5. Wendy:Thanks for your recommendation for what sounds to be a delicious alternative to Domino’s or Pizza Hut, especially for those of us over fifty.  I think that it’s worth a try.  I also appreciate the fact that you’ve included the instructions for making it, it’ll make for an interesting experiment for me since I’m not much of a chef, but I’m always one for learning. Thanks again.

  6. Hi,

Thank you for sharing with us about your Pizza experience. I think your pizza is one of the best. Because you only use natural ingredients. Only good taste is not enough to stay healthy. And the other thing is it will look great because of the different ingredients. Vegetables are a different color. Over all experience highly recommand it.

  7. This pizza dough mix looks like a great product, not only for those on a low carb diet but also for vegans and vegetarians! I’m a vegetarian and love pizza too, but find that a good crust (which is the most critical part if you as me) is super high in calories.

It looks like each box makes one pizza, am I right? The price isn’t terrible considering that you are getting excellent food that is good for you. I agree that ordering delivery is much more costly. Also, buy all of the ingredients to try to replicate the mix would be more expensive than just buying it.

Anyway, glad I found this. I’m going to give it a try.

    1. Well, the directions on the box state to separate the dough into two. So you can make two small pizzas. I usually make just one large one. I find if I press the dough nice and thin I can fit dough on a large cookie sheet. It works out perfectly. You will have to let me know how it turns out for you.

  8. This almond flour crust sounds so great even without trying them out.  The other part that makes me more interested in trying it is the part that you can have a great taste and also maintain good health.with low sugar seems there are lots of health benefits to eating low carb. I do prepare a homemade pizza for my family. But this weekend I will be sure to make an order for some pizza crust from Simple Mills.

  9. The picture of pizza at the top of your article is absolutely mouthwatering! It makes me want pizza right now. Okay, now that I’ve got that off my chest, simple mills pizza crust sounds like an excellent option for people who want to be healthier but still get that great tasting food they love. I am not going to lie and say that I would pass up a regular pizza, but my Mother is super into healthier, more natural things like this so I’m going to send her this link.

    1. I totally understand. You feel like many young people. But you really should give it a try. You may actually be surprised by how good the crust is. I love that I am totally satisfied after just 1 or 2 slices of this almond crust pizza. With a regular pizza, I found I wasn’t satisfied and would end up overeating.

  10. This pizza be looking  good right now feel like one of this right now.

With this (All of the Simple Mills gluten-free products are very low in sugar and carbs so they are perfect for Type 2 diabetics or those who are trying to limit sugar in their diet.) which I just saw I will recommend it to my uncle who is a diabetic and needs to reduce his sugar intake.

  13. This is an interesting post. I love pizza so much but I am always scared of consuming as much as I want because of the high carbohydrates content of most pizzas you buy in stores. I am glad to come across this post, I don’t know that almond and other ingredients you mentioned can be used to bake tasty pizza that is free of cab. I will spare time to get these items and prepare a delicious pizza for myself. Thank you for this post.

  14. It’s great that the more modern the health food sector gets – the more options that crawl out of the woodwork and end up on our plate!

More often than not – making dishes a little more healthy actually costs less in the weekly shop!

Thanks for this interesting and healthy pizza crust option – great ingredients and a really interesting angle.

  16. Hi Wendy,

This pizza crust sounds amazing. I am going to see if I can get it in Canada through Amazon. I am not gluten intolerant but because I have friends who are, I find myself always checking out gluten free products. I can’t wait to try it on them! Thanks for the great tip!

  17. Hi Wendy

Like you I sure miss my Pizza.

I am a type 2 Diabetic with a cardiac condition.

This type of Pizza, as you say once in a while, sounds like it is something that I could occasionally enjoy.

    What a wonderful idea.

You sure do need the crunch of the crust.

My Granddaughter is Celiac so I will pass on details of your site to her because she is always interested in Gluten Free products.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention

    John

  18. I’m glad I found your site! I haven’t heard of Simple Mills products and look forward to giving this a try. I need to eat gluten free and am always looking for new products and ideas. I don’t have celiac disease, but I have difficulty digesting wheat and yeast just the same. I like having staples like pizza crust on hand when I’m looking for a low-maintenance weeknight meal. It sounds like this crust is easy to make, but I would love to hear any baking tips that you have to share. Thanks again for the suggestion.

    1. You’re very welcome, Laura. My best baking tip is to press the dough out thin. The thinner the better. The crust gets nice a crispy that way. Also, I also go light on the pizza sauce.

  19. Great recipe Wendy.  We have been trying to eat a little better round here since Christmas and have been exploring the world of low carb alternatives and have tried almond flour but not as a pizza base.  We have used it for baking school snacks for our little one as well as in things that we would usually add flour such as pasta and some sauces.  I have always been an “everything in moderation” person when it comes to diet so I totally agree that even though it is carb reduced, there are still elements in these foods that you need to be careful of or you can definitely overdo it.

Except for cheese – you can never overdo cheese…hahaha.

    Thanks again Wendy
