Carb Blockers – Do they Work on Keto?

When it comes to losing weight and getting healthy, the best thing to do is follow a low carb, high-fat diet (also known as Keto). However, because Low Carb is a lifestyle, there will be those rare times that you will want to have a high starch meal or have a cheat day. I mean are you going to go the rest of your life and never have a piece of cake or even a potato? This is where Carb Blockers can be helpful.

What are Carb Blockers?

Carb Blockers are a natural supplement that is made of white kidney bean extract. If taken before a high starch meal or alcohol, white kidney bean extract helps to absorb the starches and prevents those starches from turning into sugar. This is a plus for those who are following a low carb diet. Most of us try to keep our carbs below 30 grams. Eating carbs can quickly knock you out of ketosis. White Kidney bean extract is believed to also be effective in suppressing appetite for some people,

You might be thinking that white kidney bean extract would have carbs in it as kidney beans are a starch. No worries. This is an extract and supplement. Carb blockers will not in themselves, knock you out of ketosis. They are a supplement that is designed to support a low carb diet on those rare cheat days you may have.

Carb Blockers – Do they work?

My personal experience is yes they work. I don’t have a cheat day often, but when I do, I always have a couple of carb blockers before that meal. I have found it helps me to not gain weight and I am able to quickly get back into ketosis.

Actually, I’ve noticed that I am able to stay in ketosis most of the time. I have tested this using a ketone testing strips and although I might not be in moderate, I am almost always in small. This is a win. I love that my small event doesn’t just totally kick me out of ketosis as long as I take a couple of carb blockers beforehand. It is almost as if the “cheat” never happened.

I like that the pills block the starches yet they are natural and can’t harm me in any way. I use them for extra support on those rare days that I want to cheat. Another bonus is I find I am quickly satisfied and I am less likely to overeat. It is almost as if I get my “cheat” out of my system. So I can then get right back into being healthy.

Another way I use Carb Blockers is pryer to drinking alcohol. Once in a while, I enjoy drinking a beer. I have found that this supplement helps to absorb the starches from the beer. Again this is something that is rare for me, but when I do indulge, I use carb blockers.

Which Carb Blockers are best for Keto Cheat Day?

I only use Carb Blockers that are 100% Pure White Kidney Bean Extract. But what I have found is that most carb blockers all have pretty much the same ingredients.

I look for a product that is natural and the best value for the money. Many starch blockers cost up to thirty dollars a bottle.

Keto Cheat Meal is simply pure white kidney bean extract. It is very low in cost and it works! I love that Keto Cheat Meal offers a money back guarantee for anyone who is skeptical.

The way they work is you simply take 2 tablets a half hour before a high starch meal.

Again, carb blockers are something that can be used to support you on a planned cheat, however, if you want success with your keto lifestyle, your cheats should only happen every once in a while.

Another good carb blocker is CBlock Carb Blocker. What I love about CBlock Carb Blocker is that not only does it include Trim Plex also known as white kidney bean extract which helps to inhibit the absorption of starch when we eat a high carb meal. Trim Plex inhibits the production of the alpha amylase enzyme as well. This enzyme helps to break down the starches into sugars for digestion. This is something we don’t want when following a low carb diet.

Not only that, this product includes added chromium and vanadium which are two elements that help to regulate blood sugar levels. This is really important for the keto way of living and more importantly for type two diabetes who are trying to avoid carbs. What a win! you get to rev up your metabolism while you cut cravings for carbs at the same time.

So in conclusion, I believe from my own personal experience, Carb Blockers work on Keto.

Benefits Himalayan Salt on a Low Carb Diet

If you have been doing a low carb diet then you probably already know that you need to increase your sodium intake. Today I wanted to talk about why sodium is so important when you are limiting carbohydrates in your diet.

When we limit our carbs, our body has lower insulin levels which is a good thing because we are less likely to develop type 2 diabetes or other health issues down the road. However, lower insulin levels can cause our kidneys to spill out more sodium in the urine. This causes us to have less sodium in our body. So even though most people who eat a normal American diet want to reduce salt in their diet, those of us who do keto need to increase our sodium intake.

Salt is a very vital micronutrient that our body needs to be healthy. When reducing carb in the diet it is important to increase our salt and electrolyte intake since we keep losing it in our urine.  The most important electrolyte is sodium.

When we don’t have enough sodium we have some side effects. You may have heard about the keto flu. When someone starts a low carb diet they may suffer flu-like symptoms where they feel sick to their stomach, feel achy and may have a headache. This can be easily remedied by simply adding back the salt in the diet that is lost in the urine.

Some other side effects that happen when we don’t get enough salt are constipation, heart palpitations, headache, fatigue, weakness or leg cramps.

Many people worry about sodium and how it can raise blood pressure and can cause health issues.

If you are concerned about getting too much salt, I highly recommend reading The Salt Fix by Dr. James DiNicolantonio. In this book, the author covers a lot of the myths out there like the blood pressure myth. He explains in the book about how we need much more salt in our bodies than we think. Actually, I learned from reading this book that it can actually be more harmful to limit salt. Our bodies are meant to use a certain amount of salt.

This book totally reassured me that increasing my sodium is actually a good thing.

Salt is a part of our make up. It frustrates me that lots of the things we’ve been taught about salt being bad for people aren’t based on science. It’s just another myth that we have been fed.

In this book, the author compares sugar and salt. We actually could have it wrong. We have been told to limit our salt intake but perhaps we should have eliminated sugar.

This book is a great read for anyone who wants to learn about the importance of salt for good health and nutrition.

another good read…

Dr. Ken D Berry, author of Lies My Doctor Told Me also talks about the health benefits of salt in chapter 13 of his book. If you haven’t read this book, I highly recommend you add this to your low carb library. Dr. Berry has a lot of knowledge and he follows a low carb diet himself. I use this book as a constant resource.

By the way, when I am talking about salt, I’m not talking about table salt or iodized salt. Table salt is highly processed. The best kind of salt is sea salt, better yet Pink Himalayan salt is the best because it has 84 minerals and trace elements. Calcium, magnesium, and potassium are 3 important minerals that we need.

The darker the salt is the more trace nutrients it will have which is a good thing. So when purchasing salt, I try to go for the really dark pink salt. The thing I love most about sea salt is that it doesn’t raise your blood pressure as table salt does.

I love salt and am no longer fearful about adding it to my food. I simply add it to taste. And it tastes good. So if you’re going to choose between table salt and sea salt, go for the sea salt. It is just so much better for you.

Here are some of the benefits you may have by adding Pink Himalayan salt to your low carb diet.

  • eliminate dizziness
  • helps with heart palpitations
  • helps with chronic pain and fatigue
  • may improve menstrual cycle
  • may eliminate headaches
  • improve bowel movements
  • help with muscle cramping

In conclusion, I no longer fear salt now that I am educated and know the many benefits of Himalayan salt on a low carb diet.

Does Raspberry Ketones Work?

Many of us who are over 50 struggle with belly fat as we are losing weight. I actually lost over 60 pounds by following a low carb lifestyle. However, it seemed like the hardest part to lose was the weight in my middle. I kept dropping pants sizes but it seemed to take a while for my arrow glass figure to begin to show.

Adding the Raspberry Ketones to my regimen really helped a lot with my belly fat. I noticed a difference in my stomach area within a couple of weeks. This supplement also helped with my energy level.

Recently it seems like there is a lot of talk on the internet about Raspberry Ketones and its effectiveness. So I decided to write a post about my personal experience using this supplement.

First of all, let’s talk about what this weight loss supplement is. Raspberry ketone is a chemical that comes from raspberries. There are many articles on the internet that claim it helps to improve metabolism and helps you to lose weight at a faster rate. In my experience, I did notice an increase in my energy and my tummy does feel much slimmer.

Does raspberry ketones work?

Although there are many diet and weight loss products on the market, the most effective way to lose weight first and foremost is to follow a healthy diet based on good nutrition. But adding extra vitamins and supplements like Raspberry Ketone can be a great addition to your regimen.

Raspberry Ketones does contain caffeine. So if you are sensitive to caffeine, then this may not be the product for you. Or simply take the product early in the day so it doesn’t keep you up at night. For me, I loved the extra energy that it gave me.

When I am choosing a supplement I choose products that are natural and or organic. I only want the best products for my body. And of course, it is also recommended to discuss it with your doctor.

Charlie Horse Leg Cramps. Ouch!

One of the possible side effects of being on a low carb diet is that you can develop charlie horse leg cramps. And I am one of those people who gets them if I’m not careful to make sure I get enough electrolytes.

Charlie Horses are NOT fun!

woman-legs-relaxation-beautyI have been woken up from a deep sleep with this severe pain in my calf. I have to jump out of bed and walk it off, just to have it come back a couple hours later. It seems like as soon as I start to fall back to sleep, I get another one.

I tried walking it off, and massaging with lotion but nothing seemed to work. So I started doing some research as to the cause of charlie horses and a low carb diet.

I have been able to figure out what my body is missing and how to nurture it so I no longer get these extremely painful muscle cramps in my legs.

What I learned was that often when people are on a low carb diet they end up missing some important electrolytes and minerals. So in a way, a charlie horse was a wake-up call to me letting me know that something was wrong.

We lose a lot of sodium in our urine while on a low carb diet. So it is very important to make sure you are getting enough sodium in your diet. I recommend adding some sea salt to your diet. It really makes a difference.

Benefits Himalayan Salt on a Low Carb Diet

I take a good multivitamin daily but it just doesn’t give me enough of the minerals that need so I needed to add a few.

Magnesium and Calcium are both important. But to get them with your food you would need to eat a lot of green vegetables. Even though I eat a lot of greens, I find I still need to add a magnesium tablet as well as calcium. I take these with water at bedtime.

I was researching online and learned from Dr. Eric Berg that it is important to take these together because calcium by itself can actually make the cramps worse. Fortunately, I’ve been taking mine together but I’m glad I know that I don’t ever want to stop doing that. I certainly don’t want to get any more charlie horses.

I also added a potassium supplement because it helps my body absorb the calcium. But also I learned that potassium plays a huge role in helping muscles to relax. And since I have a job where I’m on my feet all day long, I thought it would be good to add it to my other vitamins.

I also drink a glass of warm lemon water mixed with a bit of Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar and cranberry juice. This helps make my body a bit more acidic. And this helps me to absorb the minerals easier.

As a result of taking these minerals, I am sleeping through the night just like a baby. And sleep is very important when it comes to weight loss and health. I am now charlie horse free and hope to stay that way.
